Wow! Three chunks to a tin. Felt like I was cutting cut bait for catfish when I opened this tin.
Very soft, crumbly.
Really has no taste at all.
Very nice large bones.(calcium-rich) Would probably be good in a spread of sorts. One Sardine. Would not eat again.

Two to a can, upperparts firm, lower part very soft. These sardines. This is one of the reasons I've started this blog. To remind me not to buy these again. I purchased a can of these previously then again a year later. The other reason for this blog was the closing of the US'S LAST sardine plant in Maine. The sauce is bland and a thin fish odor hits you upon opening has a mild taste. Hopefully won't buy it again. One sardine

OVERALL:
Three large chunks of a fish. Fishy smell upon opening, good oil consistency, semi-soft up top very soft mushy like at the bottom of the chunk. Mild tasting, this would be a good fish to make a spread or the sorts out of(for the price) wouldn't buy again... Out of Five Sardines, receives one sardine...
I have include this link in my complaint to Burnswick about selling chunks of fish as sardines. I would have sent my own pics but there is no way to send a pic file.
ReplyDeleteJust had the Bruswick holmes sardines in soybean oil.
ReplyDeleteMine did come long ways in the can, two big pieces stuuffed in.
I know why so big, at least one was pregnant. Huge egg sac, gross.
The other seemed to have a drinking problem, it's liver was as big as some sardines I have seen (I assume it was liver, pale brown, smooth and mushy). Did not enjoy, and won't buy again unless very hungry and very poor.
These are the same sardines sold by the Save A Lot food store chain with their house label of 'Port Side'. To be generous and kind I will simply say THEY SUCK!!!!!
DeletePort Side is the new Holmes, imagine that.
DeleteWhat happened to the Holmes sardines from the 1960’s? I couldn’t find any since 2015?
ReplyDeleteThese new sardines suck!
