A faint smoke aroma upon opening. Five good-looking, uniformed fish to the tin. A firm fish, the smoke flavor hits you on the first bite, does not overpower the fish. Not a spiny fish, a clean-tasting fish. I'm pleasantly surprised, no fishy taste or after taste. The only aftertaste I detect is the smoke flavoring. 3 sardines. Would eat again.

Even though both tins are Great Value brands, both are a product of Thailand, and both can be found sharing the same shelf at the market; the tins with the double green fish art is the better tin of fish of the two labels.

ISLANDS FINEST- 80

ISLANDS FINEST: SMOKED IN SOYBEAN OIL

APPEARANCE:

NUTRITION:
N/A

PRODUCT OF:
Thailand

INGREDIENTS:
Soybean oil, Salt, Smoked Flavor

PRICE:
.69-1.00

OVERALL:

(Islands finest? Must be from New Moore Island) An intense smoke aroma upon opening, almost an imitation bacon bit aroma. "Scary" A very messy appearance  Appears to be four fish to the tin, with a pile of scales and bones piled in the corner of the tin. Looks as if a seagull has regurgitated into the tin. The fish just crumbles while removed from the tin. Smoke flavor taste, not too strong. The fish has a bad texture and almost gritty quality to it. It's almost mush quality; these had to of been made for a spread or just to make a $. No fishy taste, only a slight smoke after taste. I would not eat again. No Sardines.
