NOOOOooooo it hurrts to see them opened! I collect sardines and I have none of all of those! do you live in Portugal? we should negotiate a deal sometime. I'm currently working on my sardine collection website (called super sane sardines), I'll send you a link when it's done (might take a while though, I got over 150 cans to photograph now) lmtr14
New to this website and loving to see so many fellow sardine lovers. I am from Hawaii and grew up eating fish and poi. Canned sardines were always a staple when we did not have fresh. However canned sardines no longer look or taste the same. We always bought Holmes-Brunswick in the past. Can you recommend one that actually looks and tastes like a fish? I like it in olive oil the best. not crazy about tomato sauce bases. Slightly spicy is ok. But its gotta go well with poi:) and other Hawaiian foods. In a pinch I can do crackers or rice but not as satisfying as poi to me....comfort food.

As there is no commentary I still don't know which brands are best. Holmes Brunswick is lousy!

ReplyDeletePortuguese and or Spanish sardines will be your best bet. Keep popping those tins!
