Here's another tin that says "Wild Caught" I can't help but laugh when I see this on the packaging. Smokey aroma very prominent upon opening, five loosely packed fish to the tin. The fish are a little on the soft side. The smoke flavor really overpowers the fish. A fishy after-taste attempts to be known but is held at bay by the smoke flavor. A bitter, almost off-putting after taste. Would not eat again. No Sardines

dmacdave has left a new comment on your post "PAMPA- 33":
Hmmm, I just bought a can of Pampa in Louisiana hot sauce. Glad I bought just one. May just wait till I'm bored before I get into it.
Maybe the problem is that the country of origin is China. I've got great reservations about eating ANYTHING from that country because I don't trust the quality at all. Who knows what might be in the can. I've been thinking about throwing the can out without even opening it but I'll probably go ahead and open it tomorrow just to go through the experience of knowing how good or bad this stuff is.
ReplyDeleteIt will be my meal for tomorrow, so if I've got to throw it out then I'll be going hungry, again.
True. Yes, I've gone that route, nothing worse than a bad tin on your lunch break.
DeleteTried the ones in brine. Two large fish in can with liquid. Very salty and dry texture (like overcooked chicken breast), Okay with onion, tomato and crackers, but probably would not buy again. Hard to believe there is 360 calories here; how do they calculate this?
ReplyDeletePairing sardines with other ingredients, really helps out a unfavorable tin. calories are based on energy produced and all that scientific jargon.
Deletejust dropped off for the first time by reading the comments on and I'm scared to open the can and eat it
ReplyDeleteIt really depends which ones you have. China or Thailand
DeleteI just ate anot oval can in tomato sauce. They were decent and plentiful. I actually couldn't figure out why they were only a dollar. So, I googled "why are pampa sardines so cheap", and here I am.
ReplyDeleteAre they from Thailand or Canada? I have a few tins from Canada I've yet to try and put on here. Keep popping those tins!
DeleteWell. They weren't bad at all. I think I'll buy more.
ReplyDeleteI agree DaMonkie..... hubby and I opened one for Christmas Eve 7 Fishes and were very pleased with the taste and texture. Maybe we arent connoisseurs?? ;-) I did check the label after reading these comments and ours were from China. Bummer - because I too dont trust what they send back to us after we sent them all of our CRAP~
ReplyDeleteAre sardines from Poland any good?
ReplyDeleteAre sardines from Poland any good?
ReplyDeleteyes
DeleteI just ate a can... I will not be purchasing EVER AGAIN because there is a prop 65 WARNING for California on the lable stating "consuming the contents of the tin will expose you to cadmium and lead known to cause cancer and birth defects etc." Product of CHINA, pampa sardines in water. Barfffffff😖
ReplyDelete$1can....
