Absolutely delightful! Wonderful smooth texture almost silky, excellent smoked flavor. Wow these are good! Plus twice as many handsomely trimmed fishes
in the jar as opposed to the aluminum tin. A great value. I order them think I was getting a good deal. My bad. Now wonder they are cheaper. Avoid the non-gold sprats. I would give them two sardines. I ate what I ordered but was very disappointed.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04666983935149591604noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3937540923760272145.post-33055731711160441402016-01-27T19:13:34.909-05:002016-01-27T19:13:34.909-05:00Just found these in a jar at my local fish merchan...Just found these in a jar at my local fish merchant here in Auckland New Zealand. I am a true sardine lover having gorged myself in every tinned variety i can find and fresh when working abroad. This new jarred smoked variety is top of my local availability list. You'd also adjust the nutritional data down by the amount of soya oil you drain off.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15935957345491617352noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3937540923760272145.post-28811553778000726152013-11-08T19:44:18.815-05:002013-11-08T19:44:18.815-05:00They are good. This means that the can has 52g of fat (daily value 80%) and of that, well the label is broken down like this:

Fat 26g............................40%...(52g & 80% per can)
----------------------------------------------
saturated 4.4g............................(8.8g per can)
+ trans.............................22%...(44% per can)
monosaturated 10g.....................(20g per can - this is the good fat)
----------------------------------------------
So the gram count doesn't seem to quite add up. Is the missing 23.2g per can the trans?
I think the 44% daily value per can is the saturated + trans, as other sardines usually list the monosaturated fat separately so you can probably do the math. Whatever it is it's pretty big.

It's a shame really, I could easily go through a couple of cans per week but I definitely try to avoid trans in products. :(

Also, I'm in Canada and heard that the FDA is moving to ban trans in the States. Some of you may want to stock up now so you can enjoy these things on special occasions (and in moderation of course).

BTW, I think that 'portion size' thingy is a nasty trick that most consumers are not aware of. I've seen products packaged as a single serving that have well over 100% of the healthy daily salt - 'cup of noodles' or whatever it's called comes to mind.

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3937540923760272145.post-65583231976734041522012-09-01T15:21:56.595-04:002012-09-01T15:21:56.595-04:00Enjoy.
