Love the art to these tins; the art is what caught my eye on these. I'm sure I paid double for what they generally go for. These are distributed by Jose Gourmet; each tin packaging of their canned foods has a separate piece of art drawn for the cover.

Here is the description of this tin.
A certain sardine wanted to transform itself into a tomato. The transformation was done, however it lost its entire aroma and did not find its red and plain appearance to be very charming. So it decided to go back to its original form and invited the tomato over to converse: conversation about conservation.

Upon opening the tin, I was disappointed upon first look; I thought they were like your typical scaled sardines you find from Portugal; I was wrong. A slight fishy tomato aroma upon opening, three large-scaled fish to the tin, the scales are not noticeable at all; salt is prominent yet not too overpowering. A very meaty fish, a nice texture, the sauce has an excellent flavor, good consistency,  the sauce really compliments the fish. No fishy taste or after taste. A mild tasting fish, A delightfully surprising good tin of fish. They leave you craving more. I would and will eat again. Just have to locate some more now. If you know where these can be ordered or found in the states, drop me a line. 5 sardines.

Here is the description of this tin.

A lemon and a sardine fell in love. She would visit him on land, and he would go see her at sea. Passion rhymes with sardine and lemon. And it is proven that sardine is good for the heart…one that is passionate.

A very faint lemon aroma upon opening. Three large scaled sardines to the tin. Scales are not noticeable. A very meaty fish. A very light lemon flavor to the fish, not overpowering, is a nice compliment. A perfect textured fish. No fishy taste or after taste. Not a spiny fish at all. A clean-tasting fish. This tin leaves you craving more. I would and will eat again. 5 strong sardines.

    1. Thanks! I got these sardines from a private seller. I'd like to find a distributor that sells these since I'd like to have the other two varieties of sardines that they produce too.

  2. Try this site: http://www.sardining.com/collections/sardines

They have a few additional types of Jose Gourmet sardines, plus some tuna and mackarel.

  3. I managed to find these at my local market. I bought the ones in Tomato Sauce. The tin contained 4 whole fish. Great presentation and texture, but IMO the flavor of the tomato sauce was not "absorbed" by the flesh. I normally drain off most of the sauce when I eat canned fish, so my only conclusion is that maybe the flavor and the saltiness that Drew mentioned was in the sauce. Pricey at $6.99 a tin...and TBH the store I bought them at had a special on Season Brand sardines at 10 cans for 10 dollars. I would probably choose the Season Brand over the Jose Gourmet.

    1. Agreed. Not my favorite. Jose is a 3.5/5 where as Pinhais and Nuri are 5/5.
